Cody Rhodes‘ WrestleMania XL match was a grand crossover event for the WWE universe. There were many rumored appearances, out of which a few showed up. One of the faces that we didn’t get to see during the main event was Steve Austin. It appears that Cody Rhodes was also upset, knowing that Austin won’t be a part of his match, given his fondness for him.
In a recent interview, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion confessed his love for Dwayne Johnson‘s iconic rival in the promotion. As if things weren’t already rough between Rhodes and The Rock, he has made things even more complicated.

Cody Rhodes was recently featured in an interview with the Sports Illustrated Media. In the same interview, he acknowledged the rumor of Stone Cold’s potential appearance at WrestleMania XL. He immediately got reminded of the comparison that wrestling fans often draw between the current WWE era and the attitude era.
Keeping this in mind, The American Nightmare said, “They set that bar for us and they, they set this table for us and now we’re, we’re doing it all again. So nothing but love for the Texas Rattlesnake.”
Hours before the WrestleMania weekend, John Cena also teased a potential Steve Austin return. Despite how unlikely it seemed, fans readily believed that the WWE legend might show up to support Cody Rhodes in finishing his story and keeping The Bloodline at bay.

Even though we didn’t get to see the appearance that most of the fans demanded, the ones that we got were also appreciated appropriately.
The Rock’s presence rattled the arena
After many years, we saw The Brahma Bull finally return for a proper match in the squared circle. Even though he ended up victorious during night one of WrestleMania XL, he returned for the Bloodline Rules match the next evening. This only happened after a couple of interesting appearances, including John Cena.

Following The Cenation Leader’s interference, Dwayne Johnson returned to the ring again to teach him a lesson. However, things had only started to get interesting. After almost getting beaten by a prop chair by Cody Rhodes’ former team partner, the lights went out only to see The Undertaker‘s WWE return. This is when Taker choke slammed his ex-rival.
While fans and Cody Rhodes himself may have missed Steve Austin’s potential appearance, the main event couldn’t be deemed ‘dull’ by any viewer. Maybe we will see Stone Cold return to one of the future matches with Dwayne Johnson.
