The rivalry between SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks, and former Champion Bayley reached new heights. As announced earlier, the duo faced off against each other for the title on this week’s SmackDown.
The title match was the opening match of the night. SmackDown opened with The Boss making her way into the ring. A video package played simultaneously, explaining the rivalry between the former best friends.

Bayley was interviewed backstage, and she reiterated how Banks had a faulty track record when it came to title defences.
The duo started things off with some holds as Banks went in for some early pin attempts. Banks slammed the former champion on the apron. After some close two counts, Bayley took the lead and sent Banks flying to the ringside with a knee, back down face-first into the apron.

Sasha Banks and Bayley put up a gruesome match
There were some really close counts from both Banks and Bayley. Banks nailed Bayley with a top rope Meteora, that led to a stalemate with both laid out in the middle of the ring. Post that, Banks ended up hitting a big crossbody to the floor, and they both hit the barrier.
After we came back from the commercial, we saw Banks taking control. She hit Bayley with an Eddie Guerrero-Esque Frog Splash. However, that was not enough as Bayley kicked out.

Bayley tried to sneak in some kendo sticks and a steel chair but could not. Instead, she hit Banks with her own moves like the Backstabber and Bank Statement for close counts.
After that, they got up on the apron. Bayley charged, but Banks moved, as the former hit the ring post-shoulder-first and went down.
Banks kicked Bayley in the face and came back promptly with a Backstabber into the Bank Statement in the middle of the ring. Bayley tapped out, and Banks retained her title.
