Even though Mone was expected to win the title bout, Willow Nightingale defeated her and became the first-ever NJPW Strong women’s championship.

However, a new report has come forward which says that the company made this new title just for Sasha Banks. But because of her unexpected injury, Nightingale got the championship. And surprisingly, fans loved it.

In the recent edition of ‘Wrestling Observer Newsletter’, the American journalist Dave Meltzer revealed that the new NJPW strong women’s championship was actually made for Sasha Banks. However, because of her injury, the company had to alter the storyline and Willow Nightingale became the first champion instead.

According to Meltzer, “Just to confirm it, the NJPW STRONG (Womens) Championship was actually made.. the title was created for her (Mercedes Monè) It wasn’t like they’d even be a championship if she wasn’t going to win in. So Willow winning it changed everything and she obviously made the decision during the match at the finish after she got injured that she wasn’t gonna be able to continue.”

It was a huge change if it wasn’t for making Mone a champion, there wouldn’t be any new titles. But surprisingly, fans loved this change. After Meltzer revealed this news, wrestling fans started to come online and express their feelings via tweets.
