Sami Zayn Snubs Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Picks 3-Time Oscar Winner Who “Goes Out of His Way” to Keep Personal Life Private

In this day and age, when everything inevitably lands on the internet and seldom things remain private, there are a few who have been able to break the norm. One among them is WWE superstar Sami Zayn. Zayn joined the company in 2013, rising through the ranks. It took the promotion and fans 10 years to get a glimpse of his personal life. Not surprisingly, the 39-year-old also holds others who do things akin to his way in high regard.

For this, Sami Zayn has snubbed renowned actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, while picking a legend who had been able to keep his personal life under wraps.

Sami Zayn shares his love for retired actor

By now, the clues must have given away the name of the individual. Think about it, an actor with three golden ladies loves to stay away from the paparazzi and is retired. Not many fit that description. Yes, we are talking about Daniel Day-Lewis, the only actor to bag three Oscars in the leading actor category.

While he’s known for his impeccable acting skills, Day-Lewis is rather infamous among the paparazzi circle for managing to stay away somehow. But he has a big fan in Sami Zayn. Speaking to Ryan Satin on his Out Of Character podcast recently, the Canadian pro-wrestler, who is admittedly a private person, used the actor as an example.

“Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie or whoever, those couple were in the tabloids all the time. And it felt like they were kind of fair game in a way,” he said, explaining how celebs have no privacy of their own and their lives are often an open secret.

“Whereas if there’s an actor like, I’m using the first name that comes to my mind, like a Daniel Day-Lewis or something, clearly this is a guy that goes out of his way seemingly to not get caught up in any of that,” he added.

Zayn said it is the mystique around Day-Lewis that keeps him hooked. “I’d be drawn to that and I think that does spark your curiosity,” he said.

He also spoke about his own life and privacy, especially about his wife’s rare appearance earlier this year.

Zayn got married to Khadijah in 2018. Earlier this year, she sat down with the WWE to speak about her husband’s journey. The interview took place just ahead of Zayn’s title match against Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WWE Elimination Chamber.

Speaking about it, Zayn said he was apprehensive about it and the feeling is still there. “I’m still an overall pretty private person. I don’t know, something about it feels wrong to me,” he said.

The one-half of the Undisputed Tag Team Champions said as a wrestler he faces a lot of heat from fans and other wrestlers- during promos- and is mentally trained to absorb it, while his family isn’t. He added that they did not sign up for it, but he did.
