“Same Old Story”: Dwayne Johnson Boldly Predicted His Greatness Even in the Most Challenging Time of His Life

Today, the world knows Dwayne Johnson as one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood. However, WWE fans still recall Johnson by his ring name ‘The Rock’. In the late 90s, The Rock was introduced in the WWE to the world and the rest is history. But there was a time in the life of The Rock when he had no money or work to survive.

Almost everyone who loves pro wrestling knows The Rock and his journey to WWE, or his life before becoming famous. But, even in the toughest times of his life, Dwayne Johnson was assured of his success. In a 1999 interview after being famous, The Rock proclaimed that he always knew he will thrive in pro wrestling.

“I knew one day it’s gonna happen when I made up my mind to get involved in the business that I’m passionate for that I grew up in. I knew there was going to be a time when the success would come. And that’s still hard work and consistency. It’s the same old story.” 

In the interview hosted by Michael Landsberg, Dwayne Johnson clarified that he is a little surprised by how much he is recognized all over America in a short time. But, the Rock always knew that his time will come.

The People’s Champion

To have the kind of success Dwayne Johnson has achieved, one has to be confident even when things are not working out. Even after getting kicked off from the Canadian Football Team Calgary Stampeders, he never gave up. With only $7 in his pocket, Rock went on to try pro wrestling. Dwayne’s father, known by his ring name ‘Rocky’, had also worked for WWE. But the family’s legacy of wrestling never helped Rock on the money part.

Dwayne Johnson has tried several gigs before becoming famous on WWE. He also produced a show ‘Young Rock’ based on his life stories and what it was like for him while growing up with a wrestling family.
