“Safe Behind the Desk” – John Cena’s Former Rival Revives His Old Beef With Michael Cole With Sarcastic Jabs at Staying Relevant

Austin Theory had hard luck giving up his United States Championship to Rey Mysterio after recording the longest US title reign of 257 days in 9 years. Now, the young wrestling chap, looking forward to the next chapter of his stellar career, chose to be outspoken about his real hit with WWE commentator Michael Cole.

Theory isn’t very sweet-tongued when it comes to spitting facts as it is. The 26-year-old recently came out savage to address his bitter history with Cole.

Austin Theory rekindled his past animosity with the legendary WWE commentator during a recent interview

Michael Cole crafted his own legacy in the business over the years. If you close your eyes and recollect all the memorable moments of pro wrestling, in a majority of scenes, you might find Cole in the ringside. The current SmackDown commentator gradually cemented his place as one of the most familiar and most beloved voices of the sport with his brilliant job of maintaining a perfect tone while delivering nuanced analysis. That said, he’s not universally liked. His tendency to cross the bar with his overly opinionated antics sometimes offends the wrestlers.

In the same vein, Cole’s antics didn’t sit well with John Cena’s WrestleMania opponent Austin Theory.

The duo exchanged heat during the 4-Way fatal match in the United States Championship Invitational. When the ablest competitors, including Theory, received a loud ‘This is awesome’ chant from the crowd, Cole infamously labeled The Unproven One, saying they don’t do it in his matches.

After going back and forth for a while, the issue cooled down until Theory further weighed in on it during a recent interview with the Babyface podcast.

Venting out his rage, Theory noted, ”You know what I love when Michael Cole has something to say because it keeps Michael Cole relevant, you know and, what better way to do it than you know using me every week and trying his best because it’s just it’s hilarious if Michael Cole got in the ring with me it was just it’s not good you know.”

”So he gets it he’s safe behind the desk with his little headphones but he knows when those headphones are off and it’s not behind that desk and he’s walking around backstage in the United States Champion’s backstage, he knows who I am exactly”, the former US Champion added.

Cole also has a tumultuous relationship with another standout WWE female star.

Bayley and Michael Cole, the two WWE veterans’ names, have some interesting mutual connections, but not in a pleasant sense. They hate each other like anything.

Ever since the pandemic era of WWE ushered in, Bayley didn’t leave any opportunity of running down the SmackDown commentator. She mercilessly badmouthed him, insulted him, trolling him publicly over the last two years. Her loath also scaled up to uploading specific private chats on social media to banish his image.

The Role Model blamed his annoying voice and behaviors as the sole reasons for her disgust.

Speaking of Austin Theory, things didn’t turn that serious till now. But it seems to be not that far when we get to see more such drama unfolding.
