John Cena is one of the most successful WWE Superstars to have ever graced the ring. The Champ has won almost every title and accolade in WWE and has registered himself as one of the greats. Ever since he made his debut in 2002, he has remained a top draw in the roster.

Apart from being one of the highest-rated superstars in the company, Cena is currently one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. He has carved himself as one of the most successful entities in the industry. Over the years, Cena has been established as a legend in the entertainment world.

John Cena is a living legend in the world of pro wrestling. And, he has rightfully earned his status as so. However, a few years ago, he left being a full-timer at WWE, and joined Hollywood to become an actor. Ever since joining Hollywood, Cena has had a string of success.

However, prior to his career in Hollywood and WWE, Cena was a budding competitive bodybuilder. In 2006 while speaking on The Howard Stern Show, he revealed what pushed him to start working out. Cena revealed that as a kid in junior high school, he was constantly beaten.

And, at 12 years old, he decided to start lifting weights and working out. The 45-year-old said, “I was really just … and it was a true comic book story. I was getting beat up everyday in junior high. I finally started working out.”

Cena would soon move to Venice, California after graduating high school. And, start a competitive bodybuilding career. Unfortunately, it did not take him anywhere, and landed a job in professional wrestling.

How did John Cena end up as a competitive bodybuilder?

WWE Legend John Cena always had one of the most impressive physiques during his time in the company. Extremely jacked and pumped with muscles, Cena was one of the most impressive heavyweights on the roster. However, for achieving that figure, he had to work hard. Cena is a self-proclaimed natural athlete.

Growing up, Cena faced a lot of bullying, and to overcome that, Cena started lifting weights and bodybuilding. Soon, his defence mechanism turned into passion, and he moved to Venice, California, the mecca of bodybuilding to follow his passion.

During his time in Venice, he would work several odd jobs to make his living out there, while working out at the Gold’s Gym there. He had a desire to shine as a bodybuilder. However, fate had it otherwise, and Cena would join professional wrestling, and the rest is history.
