Ever since Ronda Rousey was “indefinitely” suspended from the WWE, fans wondered – What’s next for the former RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champion. However, the ‘Baddest Woman on the Planet’ herself put down rumours to rest with her sudden and unexpected appearance at SmackDown this week, followed by her shocking Instagram post calling the WWE “cheap”.
Not only did Rousey crash the Clash at the Castle contract signing between Liv Morgan and Shayna Baszler, but she also made the WWE look cheap in a stunt that no one could have predicted. Jumping into the ring with a large duffel bag full of money, Rousey took shot after shot at the multi-billion dollar industry, saying “I was also fined a lot of money, so I doubled it,” before dropping stacks of cash on the signing table.

Rousey seems to be back with a vengeance, as she claimed that it “wasn’t going to be the last time” that she gets suspended. The wrestling icon has fully embraced her persona as the ‘Baddest Woman on the Planet’, leaving fans wondering if this marks her heel turn. As Rousey said herself, “Being the baddest gets expensive, but I can afford it.”
Why was Ronda Rousey suspended?
Rousey was fined and suspended for her actions at SummerSlam where she attacked referee Dan Engler and pinned him to the floor during her bout with Morgan, the defending SmackDown Women’s Champion. Rousey had Morgan locked in submission when the referee started the three-count for pinfall. Although Morgan tapped out before the count ended, the match did not end as the pin had technically failed. This irked Rousey who attacked the WWE official.

Fans speculate that Rousey’s return and heel turn and the event that followed – Liv Morgan and Shayna Baszler signed the contract for their title match at the ‘Clash at the Castle’ event on September 3 – are connected. After all, it was Morgan who cost Rousey her title. Fans can’t imagine that Rousey’s revenge will end with the WWE without going after Morgan as well.
