On tonight’s episode of SmackDown, Roman Reigns beat Rey Mysterio in a brutal Hell in a Cell match. Mysterio fought hard and valiantly, but the Tribal Chief was damn near impossible to beat. After his defining victory, Reigns sent a message to Rey and the rest of the SmackDown locker.

Rey Mysterio joins the list of Daniel Bryan, Edge, Kevin Owens, Cesaro and Braun Strowman as Roman Reigns’ victims. The Tribal Chief chewed and spat Mysterio out and continued the onslaught after the final bell. Rey showed spirit, but the champion absolutely bulldozed him to register his twelfth successful defense.

Reigns modified his already deadly guillotine choke, the move he used to beat not just Daniel Bryan but also Cesaro, Braun Strowman and even Drew McIntyre. Now, he utilises a Ninja choke, a variation of the guillotine but far deadlier. Rey passed out in no time, giving Reigns another big win, and a well-deserved weekend off.

After the match, Reigns took to Twitter to admonish Mysterio. He advised the legend to stay home, but if he returns, he’ll have to acknowledge the Tribal Chief. To add insult to injury, Reigns mocked Mysterio by saying “Happy Father’s Day”, to him, considering the attack on Dominik last week.

With Reigns not defending his title on Sunday’s PPV, let’s see if he surprises us with an appearance, just to cut a snarky promo. Having Reigns on a PPV card is a guaranteed ticket-seller, but WWE will surely have something in store for him this weekend.

With SummerSlam approaching, the list of challengers for Roman Reigns grows narrower by the day. The SmackDown main event scene has been depleted by a hungry Roman Reigns, but the mid-card is brimming with talent. Most recently, Shinsuke Nakamura earned his ticket out of the mid-card with a huge win over Baron Corbin.

Nakamura and Reigns have history too, with their clash at the 2018 Royal Rumble coming to mind. Reigns also cost Nakamura a Universal Title shot before the Royal Rumble PPV, and he wouldn’t have forgotten that. Aside from the new King of SmackDown, Reigns has trouble brewing within his bloodline.

Prior to the touted SummerSlam clash with John Cena, Jimmy Uso could be a substantial challenge for the Tribal Chief.
