The WWE Universe witnessed another drama involving The Bloodline as the promotion held its annual SummerSlam PLE. The marquee event emanated from Ford Field in Detroit, with Roman Reigns and his cousin Jey Uso headlining the show. It lived up to fans’ expectations, with twists and turns that were predicted by many beforehand.
While Reigns might have won the Tribal Combat bout and managed to extend his run as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, he suffered a brief scare during the bout, which hinted at a big problem. The match also served as the background against which Jey and Jimmy Uso started their feud, which is expected to carry forward The Bloodline storyline in the WWE.

With his win, ‘The Big Dog’ consolidated his position as The Tribal Chief. Besides, Jimmy Uso’s betrayal might have gained him the twin brother’s tacit support. However, the match showed a glimpse of how the future could play out for the 38-year-old when Solo Sikoa shocked everyone by openly showing his dissent.
Although the bout came with a clause of no interference, the rules were tossed out. As usual, Solo Sikoa showed up and punished his older brother, Jey Uso. During one sequence, Jey was set up by Reigns and Sikoa for their new combination attack- The Spear and The Samoan Spike. Just as Reigns was about to launch himself, Uso moved out of harm’s way, resulting in The Head of the Table hitting his aide instead.
Unhappy with the missed strike, Sikoa was seen confronting Reigns briefly during the match. Though he didn’t get physical, the stares painted the picture for all. Reigns has been particularly careful in his dealings with the Enforcer of The Bloodline. He has also appeared sheepish during another interaction with the 30-year-old in the past. With the public dissent, Reigns now will be more wary of his younger cousin and aide than he has ever been.
Meanwhile, Sikoa’s stare game with Reigns also proved to be a window of opportunity for Uso, who attacked the 38-year-old ringside. Although Jey Uso had momentum, a brutal betrayal from the returning Jimmy Uso decimated his twin brother’s hope of becoming the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
But what was a loss to Jey Uso could be a boon for another superstar, who too has a history with Reigns. Without support from The Bloodline and a possible future feud with Solo Sikoa, Reigns will need to be careful about this formidable opponent.
Roman Reigns’ SummerSlam win could set a rematch in the future
Reigns has a big target on his back. His haul of two belts is envied by many of his peers. While he has been challenged several times in the past, no one has been successful in stripping off the titles in the last three years. This has resulted in Reigns becoming the only wrestler after 2000 to have a championship run spanning over 1000 days. But that could all change in about eight months.
One of Reigns’ challengers is Cody Rhodes. ‘The American Nightmare’ was hell-bent on finishing his story and getting the WWE championship, a title that has evaded his family of icons – WWE legends Dusty Rhodes (father) and Dustin/Goldust (half-brother). But Rhodes failed to put in the last piece to the puzzle at WrestleMania 39.

His crowning was further delayed by Brock Lesnar, who turned heel without a plausible explanation at RAW after WrestleMania. As Rhodes’ focus shifted from Reigns to Lesnar, his story and its glorious finish were also shelved.
But now, after humbling Lesnar at SummerSlam, the Prince of Pro Wrestling could revive his rivalry with Reigns for the same old prize. Although Rhodes lost the last time, he could win the next one, especially with Sikoa now starting to lose his patience with Reigns. The latter, who won because of a betrayal, could end up as the victim of Sikoa’s wrath, helping Rhodes take the gold.
