Roman Reigns outshines CM Punk and The Rock—Is he the greatest WWE superstar of this era?

Despite losing the big championship at WrestleMania XL, Roman Reigns continues to be the face of the company, and it shows. The WWE superstar showed that he doesn’t need to be the Undisputed Universal Champion to receive respect and love from the fans. His return at SummerSlam was so grand that it chased down some of the most viral videos posted on WWE’s social media.

Just like always, the Stamford-based company continues to be on a roll, breaking older records and setting new milestones. The Original Tribal Chief isn’t too far in that respect either. He recently became a hot topic among the internet wrestling community and earned a new achievement.

The former Head of the Table returned to SummerSlam during the last few minutes of the main event. He came out exactly when Solo Sikoa was in an advantageous position. The anticipation until that moment had built up so well that the arena exploded with excitement when Reigns’ music hit.

WWE, like every other important segment, posted the return segment on different official social media handles. Roman Reigns’ presence in the video garnered 184,000,000 views on all platforms combined. This is way more than the other two big returns that happened in the past.

CM Punk‘s return, although highly anticipated, brought in 95 million views on all social media platforms combined. Dwayne Johnson, on the other hand, went extremely viral after his 2023 return in which he was able to bring in 150 million views. Both of these numbers were recorded within a week of their upload, much like the views that Roman Reigns reeled in.

Have an interesting take?

Now that we know how Roman Reigns is on par with, if not beaten, The Rock in popularity contest among fans, can we expect them to be placed against each other in the ring as well?

Will the Original Tribal Chief face Dwayne Johnson at WrestleMania 41?

When The Rock returned to WWE in 2024, he had an agenda in mind. The WWE legend had his eyes set on the Anoa’i family throne. However, thanks to the internet wrestling community, Roman Reigns didn’t have to deal with this right away. On the contrary, Johnson ended up joining him to protect their family name and the title. However, now that the Final Boss is free of that feud, he may try to revive the heat between his cousin and himself that was left untouched last time.

Since Roman Reigns isn’t involved in any other major storyline as of now except this Bloodline takeover, he may get free by the time WrestleMania season comes around. So, we can expect that fan outrage will no longer be a barrier in making Dwayne Johnson vs Roman Reigns work. After seeing his little cousin leave him behind in terms of popularity, The Rock could have even more reasons to put him down whenever he gets the chance. This time, we will get the rightful heir to the Anoa’i family, hopefully on the basis of honest tribal combat.

Do you think Roman Reigns will continue to break records in WWE?
