WrestleMania XL finally saw an end to Roman Reigns’ historic 1316-day title run. Cody Rhodes won the Undisputed Universal WWE Championship, something that his father, Dusty Rhodes, never procured. While Rhodes celebrates finishing his story, it leads to the question- what is the next chapter in the story of ‘The Tribal Chief?’

During Night 1 of WrestleMania XL, Pat McAfee revealed that Reigns was still leukemia which led to a lot of concern from the fans. On Night 2, following the press conference after the event, Triple H provided an update on Reigns’ trajectory in WWE going forward.

In the press conference post-WrestleMania, Triple H praised Roman Reigns for his spell of dominance. HHH put Reigns in the category of one the greatest ever stars and that “If he is not ‘The’, he is one of, absolutely for certain, the greatest of all time.” For nearly four years, fans were used to seeing Reigns extend his dominance week in and week out and carry either one of the world championships on his shoulders. Now without a title for the first time since 2020, fans what the future holds for ‘The Head of the Table.’

When asked about what’s next for The Bloodline leader, Triple H revealed, “He has changed the industry. He’s that good. Can’t say enough good stuff about him. And then to do what he did tonight with Cody Rhodes and complete that. It’s not completing the story. It’s just getting to the end of this chapter. Cause he’s going to go on a whole new story now that is going to blow people’s mind I think. And I know he’s gonna take it to a whole different level.”

During the press conference, The Game also talked about his respect for Reigns who transformed WWE after his return during the pandemic. He said, “To overcome all of the things in his career, and the positioning, and the stuff he had to get through and hung in there to get where he needed to be. To deal with his physical issues and his health issues, to overcome. The pandemic, to overcome. Everything he has had to deal with on the way here.”

After McAfee mentioned that Reigns is still battling leukemia, he gave an update during the press conference following Night 1. Reigns said,

“I am still on oral chemotherapy. It’s a medication I will have to remain on my entire life, most likely…We’re good, still in remission, but it is something that is still a part of my life,” Reigns said.

Meanwhile, Triple H wasn’t the only one who was in awe of the Tribal Chief. Even John Cena praised the former WWE Universal champion when he promoted the A&E documentary on Roman Reigns.

Taking to his ‘Threads’ account, Cena wrote “Many have “held the title,” but none have elevated the position and have had as much success personally and for the entirety of the @WWE like @WWERomanReigns. A true one of a kind and, in my opinion, the greatest of all time. Watch his @WWEonAE Bio tonight!”. Such is the impact of Reigns, that even Cody Rhodes couldn’t help but praise the Tribal Chief in the press conference post-WrestleMania.

Cody Rhodes praises Reigns

Cody Rhodes was part of the press conference that took place after WrestleMania XL. Rhodes became emotional on several occasions and answered several questions by the reporters. After a long and fierce battle against Reigns and The Bloodline, the American Nightmare won the match. But he still holds a lot of respect for his opponent: Roman Reigns.

In fact, on being asked to share his thoughts on his opponent, Cody Rhodes mentioned that his desire is to be at least half as good a champion as Roman Reigns was. He said, “Roman Reigns’ title reign is the GREATEST title reign in the History of this sport. I still hope I can be half of the champion that he was for WWE as a leader.” Well, only time will tell if Rhodes can match the legacy left behind by the Tribal Chief.
