After holding the Undisputed Universal Championship for a record number of days, Roman Reigns lost the title on the second night of WrestleMania XL to Cody Rhodes. That was the last time the Tribal Chief recorded an appearance on WWE TV. And the WWE Universe has not heard from him much or at all since that time. Though some subtle references have popped up now and then. Like the one of Roman Reigns posting a message on social media hinting at a return to training.
However, the question that many of us are still asking ourselves is: when will he return to televised shows? While Dave Meltzer provided a rough answer in his Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Meltzer stated that a matchup between the Tribal Chief and The Tribal Heir, Sikoa, is in the works for Reigns’ return to the WWE. Maybe setting up Reigns as the babyface in this unfolding story. Meltzer further added that it may end up serving as the main event at a major PLE, like SummerSlam or WrestleMania. And while Meltzer did provide us with a date, Bully Ray believes that the WWE might also give new entrance music to the former Universal Champion.
Bully Ray, Mark Henry, and Dave LaGreca sat together to discuss all things pro wrestling in one of the latest editions of the Busted Open Podcast. And one topic that Ray felt like discussing was the importance of entrance music in one’s gimmick. Being the loudmouth that he is, he did not hold back while criticizing the WWE’s decision to not use Bloodline music for Jacob Fatu’s debut.

And another fact that Ray believes is that Roman Reigns might get new music when he returns to the WWE. While the music that Reigns has right now is also great, the veteran believes that he has earned the right to get something a lot more magnanimous and iconic. As he said, “When Roman eventually comes back, I think that they can make something even more epic for him. Dave LaGreca agreed with the sentiment and said, “Well, I mean, nothing’s… Yeah, but when he does make that first initial comeback, it needs to be Roman’s music. Yes, yes, absolutely.”

Well, it is true that Roman Reigns’ music does fall flat when you compare it to the music that other current stars have, such as Randy Orton’s “Voices” and Cody Rhodes’ “Kingdom.” Even his cousin, the Final Boss Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson‘s theme, is an iconic one that gets the loudest of crowd pops the WWE has ever witnessed. So it would be a really great decision by the WWE if they do decide to get Reigns a new set theme. And maybe, just maybe, get Jim Johnston to return to compose it.
The wrestling community has not taken kindly to Def Rebel’s tunes since they took over the responsibility. However, they have shown a marked improvement as evidenced by the Wyatt Sicks and Jacob Fatu’s music. The WWE Universe will be hoping that they can conjure up some magic for the biggest star in WWE. What do you think about Bully Ray’s thoughts? Do you want Jim Johnston to compose the next theme for the Tribal Chief? Let us know in the comments.
