Last night, the 2024 edition of SummerSlam took place. The night in Cleveland also recorded four title changes: Gunther won the World Heavyweight Championship, LA Knight won the United States Championship, Bron Breakker won the Intercontinental Championship, and Nia Jax won the WWE Women’s Championship. As for the main event, Cody Rhodes successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Championship in the Bloodline Rules match against Solo Sikoa—all thanks to unexpected outside help.

After a long battle that put The American Nightmare in a difficult position, despite the help of Randy Orton and Kevin Owens, the Bloodline slowly but surely gained the upper hand. It seemed over for the American Nightmare. But Roman Reigns surprisingly returned. The Original Tribal Chief arrived and helped Rhodes by knocking out Solo Sikoa with a Superman Punch. Thus allowing the champion to retain the title. But this deed wasn’t for Rhodes. Instead, it was revenge against the usurper Solo Sikoa. Sikoa took away his former team and reformed it into a “new” Bloodline.

So while many expect that Roman Reigns will be going for the Universal Championship again and asking for a rematch against Cody Rhodes, as per the Busted Open Podcast, Reigns has his eyes set on the Bloodline for now. In the latest edition of the show, Dave LaGreca shared his readings and reactions from the PLE. One major talking point was obviously the return of Reigns. Which, according to LaGreca, is all about setting up a feud with Sikoa.

He said, “But it’s also the look that Roman gave Cody. Now, Cody looked up at Roman when Roman finished and was outside the ring, and you see Cody kind of give a nod to Roman. But I did not see your Roman give any kind of acknowledgment to Cody Rhodes. And I think for Roman, it may be one step at a time. All right, Solo, you want to talk trash about me? You want to lose your focus on Cody Rhodes and think about being the head of the table and running the bloodline and trying to trash my name and saying that I was gone and I wasn’t returning.”

The Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio, surely witnessed one of the biggest moments of 2024. An interference that they anticipated for a long time. However, it was also one interference that even the American Nightmare admitted was crucial for him to retain his title; otherwise, it would’ve been Sikoa holding the belt.

After the show, Cody Rhodes was one of the talents who appeared at the press conference, where he addressed the return of the Tribal Chief. He said, “I don’t want to fill the room with positive platitudes and hot air about the real ‘Tribal Chief’ Roman Reigns returning. But without a doubt, that probably would have gone a different way; I probably wouldn’t be sitting here with the North Star of the industry had it not been for Roman Reigns. So he’s certainly I’ve got quite a list of people who I owe one.”

He further added, “I might owe him more than one. Again, no love loss. That’s as much a shoot as it gets. There’s a unique relationship, I suppose. I haven’t seen or spoken to him since WrestleMania. I think the WWE fans, wrestling fans, the WWE Universe, they wanted him, and SummerSlam delivered and gave him, and that I’m always very happy about.” Well, it surely looks like Rhodes is thankful for the help. So is his wife Brandi Rhodes, who tweeted that she might invite Reigns to Thanksgiving if he continues being this good. “He’s not invited to Thanksgiving. Not yet. There’s an open seat but…too early to fill it right now.” So, what do you think? Will Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes join hands in the future and possibly team up against the Bloodline 2.0?
