Roman Reigns’ historic reign came to its end last night at the Lincoln Financial Field in front of a psyched-up crowd, marking the greatest-ever finish of WrestleMania in decades. But the acknowledgment he received single-handedly carrying the company for the past 4 years was engraved in the history for good. So, his ending of the championship stint was more about glory and respect, unlike just another tragic downfall. On top of that, WWE planned it out on a very significant day related to his late brother Matt ‘Rosey’ Anoai.

Roman Reigns’ historic title end date shows a unique coincidence

WWE had stacked all the odds in Cody Rhodes’ path, including making him lose to Reigns and The Rock on Night 1 and giving Bloodline a nod to bring unbridled chaos. After a hard-hitting back-and-forth, the quintessential moment came when Rhodes pinned the Tribal Chief with multiple cross-Rhodes, leaving the fans awe-inspired. The date, 7/04, has been marked forever in the Anoa’i family history, but not for the first time.

Roman Reigns’ destined collapse at the end of a shenanigans-filled match was a reason to memorize the date as an unforgettable one in a negative sense. Coincidentally, it’s the same date that the Samoan family has been commemorating since 1970 as it marked the birthday of the generational superstar Rosey (Matthew Anoai).

While it’s still unknown if it was impromptu or planned, the synchronism of the two events was something worth drawing attention to. Moving ahead, Roman Reigns has a strong attachment to his late brother even after nearly 7 years of his demise.

The Tribal Chief shared a soulful bond with his brother Rosey

Roman Reigns’ elder brother and WWE Hall of Famer Sika’s son, Matthew Anoai aka Rosey, has etched his name in WWE history as another Samoan legend. Stepping out from a full-time WWE run back in 2006, the late wrestler never got the chance to share the ring with his brother Reigns. That said, he was instrumental in The Tribal Chief’s monumental success. Reminiscing the tragic event of his sudden demise, The Big Dog once divulged how difficult it was for him and the family to deal with the pain of losing Rosey.
