Last weekend at SummerSlam, Roman Reigns returned to the schedule to attack Solo Sikoa during his fight against Cody Rhodes. At that point, Reigns had the opportunity to go toe-to-toe with Rhodes. The American Nightmare had snatched the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship from him at WrestleMania XL. However, he attacked his brother instead.
Recently, WWE shared a video on social media that offers more details about the interaction between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. In the video, Reigns mentions Rhodes’ championship. Reminding him that it belongs to him and warning him that they will eventually face each other again. But what if we tell you that it is possible that there would be no one-on-one between the two? But instead, they could team up and fight alongside each other.
Well, that is what the guys at the Busted Open Podcast believe. In the latest edition of their much-acclaimed pro wrestling podcast, Jonathan Hood and Justin LaBar talked about the feud between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. So, while discussing the same, they wondered who could be on Reigns’ side in his fight against the very faction he once led. While there are rumors that Jacob Fatu could turn out to be a double agent for Reigns, according to the Busted Open, it could be The American Nightmare who would provide a helping hand.

But why? Well, because Rhodes is a straight-to-your-face guy. He surely would not backstab Reigns, unlike others. Also, being a babyface helps fight off the bad guys. They said, “He can trust Cody Rhodes. That’s the great irony in this: that the man who he’s fought the last two WrestleMania’s, that’s the man he can trust the most because Cody Rhodes is not a backstabber. Cody Rhodes is not a shady, shifty dealer. He’s straight to your face tell you like it is.”

They further added, “And he’s fought Roman hard, and he’s…. He can see. He can see what Romans’ dealing with. He can see that, you know, it’s so it’s like he was; it’s like, you know, he might have gone to war with Roman, but he at least had a certain amount of respect for Roman and Romans’ Bloodline.” Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes have met twice, both times as rivals and with one win for each. All indications were that it was only a matter of time before they meet again. WrestleMania 41 looks like the right event for this showdown if The Rock doesn’t return to WWE. So does that mean we won’t be getting the fight?

Cody Rhodes gives his opinion on the return of Roman Reigns and a possible rematch in the future

He said, “I don’t want to fill the room with positive platitudes and hot air about the real ‘Tribal Chief’ Roman Reigns returning. But without a doubt, that probably would have gone a different way. I probably wouldn’t be sitting here with the North Star of the industry had it not been for Roman Reigns. So he’s certainly I’ve got quite a list of people who I owe one. I might owe him more than one. Again, no love loss. That’s as much a shoot as it gets. There’s a unique relationship, I suppose. I haven’t seen or spoken to him since WrestleMania. I think the WWE fans, wrestling fans, the WWE Universe, they wanted him, and SummerSlam delivered and gave him. And that I’m always very happy about.”
While Cody Rhodes knows that his story with Roman Reigns is not 100% over, he is aware that Roman Reigns must first resolve his issues with Solo Sikoa and the rest of The Bloodline before challenging him for the Undisputed WWE Championship. So, what do you think? Will the two fight again, or together? Let us know in the comments.
