Is Cody Rhodes the right choice for WrestleMania, or should Roman Reigns have kept the spotlight?

Earlier in 2024, Roman Reigns had started getting booked in a headline-worthy storyline against his own cousin. When fans retaliated, his opponent for WrestleMania XL was changed from The Rock to Cody Rhodes. Fans started speculating that the Original Tribal Chief may be able to feud with his family member at WrestleMania 41 because he wouldn’t be booked for any matches at the time. However, it seems like this plan is getting ditched again.

Cody Rhodes is trying to get in the middle of yet another Roman Reigns storyline. The story ‘finished’ at Mania this year, setting the former Head of the Table free for an epic faceoff against Dwayne Johnson but this duel might not see the light of day anytime soon.

WWE fans wanted more tribal action from the two superstars. The Brahma Bull returned on the Day 1 episode of WWE Raw only to tease his upcoming feud against Roman Reigns. That took an unexpected turn, but this feud was further delayed. If it doesn’t happen soon, the viewers might retaliate again to make DJ vs Roman Reigns happen in Vegas next year.

As per WRKD Wrestling on X, a page that claims to report unheard and unseen news, Cody Rhodes might be up against the Final Boss for WrestleMania in 2025 while Roman Reigns might face him the year after.

Fans have previously supported Cody Rhodes in letting him finish his story and now it may be about time that they support The Rock in completing his because everything seems to be aligning perfectly.

Is WWE already laying grounds for Roman Reigns’ throne battle?

As of now, the former Undisputed Universal Champion is trying to take back the Ula Fala so that he can reign as the Anoa’i chief again. His alignment with either the babyface or heel character model is not clarified as of yet. However, there are chances that he is a character who is changing. Before he left, The Rock teased a feud against Cody Rhodes in which he will continue to stay a heel. According to a podcaster, since fans love to see the WWE legend in this heel form again, the leading wrestling promotion may not alter his persona for a long time, this will also align perfectly with the current Bloodline story arc.

Once the OTC is done taking back the throne, the brand new threat to deal with could be Dwayne Johnson. If the Twitter leak we discussed has room for contradiction, then we may see some retaliation at the hands of WWE fans. The sentiment among the viewers tells us that Reigns vs Rock match might be much more preferable than seeing his match against Cody Rhodes at the coming Mania. The story is getting woven in a way that the Stamford-based company can take any road at this point.
