Roman Reigns as a future WWE executive—Is this the best move for the company?

Roman Reigns has been a force to be reckoned with in the global wrestling realm. Although The Big Dog hasn’t been active since losing his title to Cody Rhodes during the spectacular WrestleMania Night 2, his arrival bell is imminent. Speculations are rife that Reigns will return fire on Solo Sikoa and team Bloodline 2.0 and replant himself atop his throne again. But this potential storyline involves a significant change in his character. Currently, The Tribal Chief is a heel although he might find himself switching sides upon his comeback. Reigns as a baby face might be the next big juncture in his career.

If you want to argue against the notion, you might not have noticed a massive Easter egg leaked on a past Roman Reigns’-Cody Rhodes promo on TV.

No matter how tough it is to believe that Reigns pulled in a good guy image during his rookie days in the company (2014), it is what it is. Fans solely rejected the formidable heel as a face since there were other talents (Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose) who did it better. Although Reigns put in a commendable effort, it came out pretty generic and boring. Fans hardly showed love and respect for him in the live shows. After some time, the pandemic put an abrupt halt to that character shade. And then everything changed with Reigns returning to his comfort zone, a seasoned heel. Finally, following a six-year drought, his promos seem to be sold. The charm has been successfully restored, and the rest is engraved in history.

So, on that line. It might be impossible to believe WWE again takes the same call. But an old Raw promo hinted otherwise. A resurfaced clip on Twitter featured Reigns calling Rhodes no 2 while putting himself at the top. Now, it would be a long-time storyline if Reigns proves his words true by doffing the former Stardust’s glory as a top-class babyface. Fans can already connect the dots.

WWE fans obsess over an old promo that sowed the seeds of Reigns’ babyface return

Ever since the American Nightmare toppled the Big Dog, Solo Sikoa took the lead. The former Right-Hand man recruited a series of ferocious fighters in pursuit of forming a new Bloodline. They launched a vicious assault on Paul Heyman and Jimmy Uso to consolidate the group even more. Then they got under the skin of Cody Rhodes and his allies (Randy Orton and Kevin Owens) for several weeks. With the dust not yet settling, Sikoa chose to single-handedly tackle Rhodes at SummerSlam. While the rumors card vouch for Randy Orton to give Rhodes a leg up, WWE gave a host of hints of The Viper’s eventual heel turn on Rhodes. If that happens, in a fine-tuned Hypothetic, The Head of the Table might make a shell-shocking intervention in his former foe’s favor and establish himself as the new baby face of the division.

Have an interesting take?

Some fans are heavily invested in both the stars and can’t put one over another. The way Cody Rhodes underwent an arduous journey to fulfill his father’s dream is truly commendable. On the other hand, The Tribal Chief’s utter dominance and presence are irreplaceable to date. No one can demand and receive acknowledgment like he did. So tipping them together might be a good idea.
