This Tuesday, June 25, has cemented itself as a really dark day for the Anoa’i family. The death of one of its members, Sika Anoa’i has surfaced. The WWE Hall of Famer was a part of one of the great tag teams in the history of wrestling, The Wild Samoans, with Afa Anoa’i. He was also the father of the Bloodline’s Tribal Chief Roman Reigns.
His nephew, Jahrus Anoa’i, took charge of making this devastating news public through his Instagram account. He wrote an emotional post to share the news. In the post, he revealed that the WWE Hall of Famer passed away peacefully on June 25th. And that his legacy and contributions to wrestling will live on through the lives he touched and the achievements he made. His nephew further emphasized how Sika played multiple roles in life to perfection. By being a hard-working father, a loving brother, an understanding uncle, and a proud grandfather.
Anoa’i also praised his uncle’s kindness and how future generations would also look up to him as an idol. The contribution of Sika Anoa’i can also be witnessed through the sheer number of tributes being paid to him by everyone in the pro wrestling world. Reigns had been inactive on social media ever since WrestleMania XL. He decided to take a break from pro wrestling and keep himself busy with non-WWE projects instead. But with the wrestling fraternity outpouring him with love, the Tribal Chief couldn’t help but address them all. And he might even appear on a tribute show if the WWE decides to host one in memory of Sika Anoa’i.
Sika last appeared in WWE four years ago after his son Roman Reigns defeated Jey Uso at Hell in a Cell 2020. Both he and Afa were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007. In honor of a career that began in 1973 and ended 16 years later. With Afa holding 18 championships throughout his run as a pro wrestler. A legacy that is truly tough to match. From EssentiallySports, we send our sincere condolences to the entire Anoa’i family and those affected.
