The 1980s and early 1990s witnessed Hulk Hogan becoming the most popular pro wrestler of all time. He was the face of WWE during the Golden Era and helped the company establish itself as an International giant from a regional wrestling promotion.

Hogan’s popularity was known all over the world, and the WWE Hall of Famer had several International fans. His stint at NJPW also made him a popular face in Japan, where he was known as ‘Ichiban’ meaning number one.

His International fandom knew no bounds, and even former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford was a fan of The Hulkster. Ford had claimed that he had been a childhood fan of Hogan.

During the annual Fan Expo in Toronto in 2013, Rob Ford and Hulk Hogan engaged themselves in a friendly arm-wrestling match. However, what came as a shock to everyone was the man with 24inches biceps defeat to the Mayor. Rob Ford could defeat Hogan in the arm-wrestling match, and came out victorious.

During the match, Hogan indulged himself in a moment of trash-talking with the Mayor, and called him ‘Big Man’ and taunted by saying if that was all the mayor had got. Hogan taunted Ford by saying, “Not only am I gonna rip this arm off, I’m gonna take your job while I’m at it”.

After initially struggling, Ford defeated Hogan and yelled, “I own this town, man”.

After the defeat, Hogan termed Ford as a ‘Hulkamaniac’ and even raised his hand. Despite of having massive 24inche arms, Hogan had to accept the defeat he tasted from his big fan.

Hulk Hogan played rock music before entering the wrestling world

The 69-year-old Hulk Hogan had always been a musician. He spent around one decade playing fretless bass guitar in the State of Florida. He dropped out of the University of South Florida once he receiving several gigs with his rock band.

Their band ‘Ruckus’ was formed by Hogan, along with two other local musicians in 1976. He continued his band for one year before he set his sight on wrestling in 1977. Hogan and his band, ‘Ruckus’, were quite famous in the Tampa Bay region of Florida and even had various wrestlers visiting their gigs.

Hogan revealed their band played mostly rock music and cover songs. However, they also had a few originals of their own but could make more because of their brief stay as a band.‘Ruckus’ would later get dissolved after Hogan decided to pursue his career in pro-wrestling. After Hogan shifted his focus toward pro wrestling and lifting weights, he would leave the band.
