Randy Orton and Stone Cold Steve Austin have excellent finisher moves. While Orton uses the RKO, Austin was the master of The Stunner.

During their conversation on Broken Skull Sessions, the duo discussed their respective finisher moves. Austin wanted Orton to explain how he came up with the move.

“As far as the move goes, there’s the Diamond Cutter, and of course, there’s the Ace Crusher. So Laurinaitis and me, Laurinaitis had my back and I was trying this move, I believe it was called the overdrive and it was hurting my shoulder a little bit, which had already been fixed up.

Laurinaitis was like ‘hey man, do the Ace Crusher’. So I said ‘okay’, changed it up a little bit. Holy! Thank you Johnny because now I got this thing I can hit anybody with from anywhere. There’s no set up, there’s no nothing, and it just happens, boom!”

Even though Orton had come up with a move, he still needed a name for it. He called it RKO, which stands for Randy Keith Orton, and Vince McMahon approved.

“The first night I was doing it on TV…. Vince is walking in the hallway and we need a name for this thing. Randy Keith Orton are my initials and I came up, I’m like ‘TKO, RKO, this KO, KO, KO, KO, like RKO. Vince, what do you think?’ He’s just, never skipped a beat, kept walking, didn’t change the strides, and ‘I like it’ and that was it.”

Furthermore, the duo compared Austin’s stunner to Orton’s RKO and the similarities between the two finisher moves. Both of them are extremely effective inside the ring and help gain an instant pin.

What is Randy Orton currently doing?

Currently, Randy Orton is entangled in a storyline involving Alexa Bliss and The Fiend.

His latest match was against Alexa Bliss at Fastlane 2021, and The Fiend returned after being burned alive by Orton in The Inferno Match.

Ever since then, Bliss tormented Orton at every opportunity she got. She finally gave him the chance to get rid of her if he accepted to fight her at Fastlane 2021.
