Without a doubt, Edge was one of the most devious and nefarious heels in WWE during his prime. He used his underhand tactics to secure high-stakes victories. If you witnessed his evolution while growing up and found yourself disliking him at certain times due to his malevolent persona, it’s worth acknowledging that this reflects Edge’s exceptional skill at performing his role.

That said, a certain 26-year-old WWE star recently recalled how good a bad guy Edge was. In addition, the star also likened the rivalry between Edge and John Cena to DC’s famous characters. The star in question is none other than Austin Theory.

Let’s face it, Edge’s remarkable portrayal of a vindictive villain is perhaps unrivaled in WWE. Although WWE has produced some of the most spiteful heels over the years, Edge has his special place. For the most part of the PG Era, Edge proved to be a fly in John Cena’s ointment.

Their conflict certainly bore a resemblance to the rivalry observed between Batman and Joker. Ahead of Edge’s potential retirement match against Sheamus, Austin Theory compared his iconic feud with John Cena to Batman and Joker from the DC comic, while speaking on the After The Bell podcast.

He said, “Edge’s honestly right there next to John Cena for me. Because anytime you watch a show that you’re invested in, I guess especially as a kid, you can have a really good guy but you got to have a really good bad guy and Edge was always that Joker to that Batman and he was somebody that I loved to watch. As much as I didn’t like him. I was so into what he was going to do next.”

Theory also admired Edge for being so good at his role. The two-time United States Champion revealed that he didn’t like Edge as a child watching wrestling. However, he always kept his eye out for the Rated R Superstar’s next move.

Theory would then defend his Championship against John Cena on the grandest stage. Once again, Theory figured out a way to retain his Championship by delivering a low blow to his childhood hero, securing the win

Come to think of it, Austin Theory is a great example of a star who worked hard until his idols became his rivals. Anyway, Theory is currently on the quest to bring the US Championship back home. It remains to be seen what’s next for Austin Theory.
