Goldberg was in WCW before he joined WWE and was known for his undefeated streak in singles matches. However, his first run with WWE wasn’t nearly as great as his current run is going.

Despite everything else, the Goldberg brand as a name was huge, which is why Vince signed him in the first place.

In a recent episode of his podcast, Ric Flair Wooooo Nation UNCENSORED, the Nature Boy, discussed Goldberg, fighting him and his time in the company.

Mark Madden asked ‘The Nature Boy’ when Vince signed Goldberg. Flair revealed that he played a hand in the signing because Vince asked the legend if he thought Bill would succeed in the company, and he said ‘most definitely.’

Unfortunately, according to Ric, his first tenure nearly wasn’t as entertaining as his second and last one.

“When he came that the last time Shawn, Hunter, myself, and Dave ran the first time, right? They had a ton of guys to feed Bill. I probably wrestled Bill more times in WWE when I was in my 50s than I did back in the 90s at WCW, as did Hunter.” Ric said.

He called Goldberg a good guy and said it was a pleasure to work with him. The 17-time world champion recalled Bill not leaving on good terms and talked about returning after a decade.

“The guys that made a name for themselves, that mean something ten years after they’ve been removed and kicking back and mean something, those are the guys that are special in the fan should recognize that whether they’re like their work where they’re critical of it or not.”
