Ric Flair had a long and fruitful professional wrestling career. Throughout his professional wrestling career, he battled against top superstars in the professional wrestling world, including Goldberg and Bret Hart.

During a recent episode of the Ric Flair Wooooo Nation Uncensored Podcast, Ric Flair and Mark Madden talked about Bret Hart’s injury that he suffered in a match against Goldberg.

At Starrcade in 1999, Bret Hart defended the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against Goldberg. But during that match, Goldberg kicked Bret Hart in the head and it lead to Bret having a severe concussion. This incident contributed to Bret Hart having to retire from in-ring action soon after that.

Referring to this incident, Mark Madden asked Ric Flair whether Goldberg was safe to work with. Addressing this question, Ric Flair said, “Well, to me he was very safe. I have been kicked in the head by him too. Everybody is gonna get kicked or hit in the head. So what may have affected Bret unfortunately, did not affect me.”

The WWE Hall of Famer noted wrestling is a very physical sport and they all get kicked in the head, suffer cracked vertebrae or cracked ribs.

“Wrestling is a very physical, tough sport. When people don’t understand that, it’s ridiculous. Because no matter whether it’s choreographed or not, these kids put their bodies on the line every day,” he added.

Is Goldberg retiring from in-ring action?

Goldberg made an astonishing return to WWE in 2016 following a 12-year absence. But it looks like he might soon retire from in-ring action once again.

During an interview on the Pat McAfee Show, Goldberg noted he got one more match left on his current WWE deal. The last time Goldberg wrestled was at the 2021 WWE Crown Jewel PPV against Bobby Lashley.

On that night, Goldberg defeated Lashley after hitting ‘The Almighty’ with a vicious spear. The feud with Lashley got very personal after Goldberg’s son got involved in the feud at WWE SummerSlam 2021. Against Lashley, Goldberg showed the world that he still can compete at the highest level.
