Ever since the wrestler-turned-actor forayed into Hollywood, fans are curious to see if he can achieve the same success in acting as he did in pro wrestling. But, John Cena embarks on his journey with humble beginnings and without expectations. The WWE icon like to live in the moment and enjoy the experience. 

Even in wrestling, John Cena started off as a curtain-jerker, working his way to the top. Over time, John Cena moved from the lower card to the mid-card, and finally to the upper card. And his theory of success does not involve swinging for the fences. 

John Cena reveals that he never sets out to be the biggest star anywhere

John Cena was recently seen reprising the role of Jakob Toretto in Fast X. Although Cena landed a major role in the Vin Diesel starrer franchise, he is still not the biggest star of the show. Moreover, John Cena says he does not set lofty goals.

While speaking with Sam Roberts of Notsam Wrestling, John Cena revealed how he approaches his goals. According to the Peacemaker actor, he doesn’t shoot for the stars. While admitting that he is not the biggest star of the Fast X, he said, “I never wanted to be the biggest star of anything”. 

He further imparted his interesting theory of perception to Sam Roberts. The wrestling legend said that he wears two watches. While one shows time, the other is for perspective. 

He added, “I wear two watches one for time and one for perspective, (what’s that say?) This is a paraphrased Teddy Roosevelt quote, it says ‘comparison is the thief of joy’. This is my perspective, this tells me what time it is. So I don’t do that, I don’t look uphill and be like I want to be that guy. I just look at the field and say put me on that thing.”

Contrary to the belief of having tunnel vision and being competitive, John Cena approaches his goals with patience and perspective. Let’s face it, it has worked wonders for him. Although he is still making a name in Hollywood, he has come a long way.

Nevertheless, at this juncture in his Hollywood career, John Cena is one of those actors that are not far from becoming a megastar in the future.

Despite being the torch-bearer of WWE for the longest time, John Cena believes that success in WWE goes beyond being in the main event of WrestleMania. 

As noted, John Cena’s achievements in WWE were no low-hanging fruit. In fact, he once almost got fired during his rookie year, however, a gimmick change saved his career.

Speaking further during the interview, Cena took pride in having a career as a mid-card wrestler after main-eventing WrestleMania five times. It’s worth noting that the last headlined the Show of Shows, ten years ago. 

He said, “You don’t need to be the last match(at WM). I had a hell of a career after the Metlife thing(WrestleMania 29). Like, you don’t need to be last. I was just getting me on the field. 

In all fairness, John Cena had an exceptional run as the US Champion, wrestling as a mid-carder. In addition, John Cena helped other rising stars seize their opportunity.
