Since Triple H took over the creative control of WWE, we have seen a drastic change in the programming. There are a lot of surprise elements and a long backstory behind any storyline the company puts up on screen. Similarly, the recent SmackDown episode offers a glimpse of the same programming.

WWE once again tried to make the fans scratch their heads over the hooded person who attacked Tegan Knox. However, fans had some various guesses over who could be the person before they revealed it was Xia Li. Shockingly, one of the fan even assumed CM Punk in a joking manner.

Fans guess who was the mysterious hooded figure on SmackDown was before the backstage segment revealing it to be Xia Li

The recent episode of SmackDown opened with a Women’s Tag Team Championship match. Dakota Kai and Io Sky faced Liv Morgan and Tegan Knox. The returning Knox almost had the match in her hand, before Xia Li, hiding under a hoodie, kicked her ringside.

The referee wasn’t looking as he was busy at another corner checking in Sky. Even though later in the backstage are they revealed the hooded figure to be Xia Li, it seems fans expected some other superstar to be under the hoodie interfering the match. The first major prediction was indeed Mandy Rose.

The reason why the hooded figure was Xia Li.

The security guards quickly took Li backstage. However, when Adam Pearce took off the hood, it was Xia Li.

Even the top WWE Official was shocked and confused at the same time. He ordered Li to follow him to his office for a chat. It seems the next episode of the blue brand will reveal why Li attacked Knox in the middle of the match.

Is a WWE push for Xia Li is in process?

The 34-year-old WWE superstar is the first ever Chinese woman to wrestle in a WWE ring. While the WWE scouts were in China looking out for new recruits, Li impressed them and she quickly joined the Performance Center in 2017.

Li made her in ring WWE debut in 2017 in Mae Young Classic tournament, in which Mercedes Martinez eliminated her in the first round. She took part in the same competition in 2018, but didn’t make past the second round.

In 2019, she made her main roster debut entering the Royal Rumble and after that spent time in NXT.

After nearly spending three years in NXT, they drafted her on SmackDown as part of the 2021 Draft. Since then, we have seen her quite often in the ring. However, it seems now WWE has huge plans for their first ever Chinese female superstar.
