Chris Jericho has always been known to play the ‘I-don’t-care’ heel in the WWE. He is a massively talented wrestler who the fans love. However, his kayfabe brash attitude dropped on social media when he joined America to mourn the passing of an iconic TV legend.

Jericho has seen a ton of action in his over two decades in professional wrestling. He’s been around the block and always has had respect for people who value the craft of wrestling, especially if they could make him break character on screen. 

Chris Jericho pays tribute to Bob Barker’s passing

Although he gained popularity for hosting the famous The Price Is Right game show, Bob Barker also appeared as a guest host of Monday Night Raw in 2009. This was during the Red brand’s Guest Host era. One of his most iconic segments during that time was with Chris Jericho. Barker would later win a Slammy Award for being the best WWE guest host.

Taking to social media, Jericho posted a tribute to Barker. Jericho expressed his condolences in the post and reflected on the past week. First, it was Terry Funk, followed by Bray Wyatt, and now the iconic Barker. He went on to say how Barker was the most outstanding guest host in the history of WWE RAW.

Moreover, Jericho mentioned a moment where Barker nearly caused them to break character on camera. He added the clip of the interaction the two shared. Jericho expressed his gratitude to Barker for his work as an entertainer. Furthermore, for Barker’s genuine appreciation and respect for professional wrestling.

While older than most guest hosts featured on RAW, Barker never followed the WWE. Once slated as the host, Barker brought his charm and wit to entertain the fans. The segment that Jericho mentioned in his tribute post was one of his favorites, as it is among the very few times that Jericho broke character on screen. 

Barker also engaged in a hilarious segment with DX. Nevertheless, the WWE Universe has several memories of Barker to cherish and they poured their condolences for the deceased star.

Barker’s backstage segments and fan reactions

Another noteworthy segment from Barker’s limited tenure as guest host was a backstage segment with D-X. The segment also featured Kelly Kelly as Barker’s assistant. In The Price Is RAW segment, Triple H and Shawn Michaels had to spin the wheel to see who their opponents for the night would be. Being the incredible host, Barker hilariously added that he had “Two words” for them. He mirrored their iconic “Suck it” with “Spin It” to a strong ovation from the audience. 

Fans were quick to respond to this heartbreaking news.  Some fans were quick to point out the number of WWE-related people passing away this week.

“Best guest host. I really enjoyed your story about him in your book. I watched him for years with my grandparents growing up wishing for the day I would be able see the show in person with them. While that dream never happened I continued to enjoy seeing him host and in films. His appearance on RAW with you was epic! Thank you for the decades of entertainment Bob. Rest in peace to this showbiz legend. 🙏🕊️”

One fan mentioned that on December 12, Barker would hit 100 years of age. 

“Dang. He had four more months until he was 100” 

A few fans remembered the other tragic deaths that transpired recently.

The segments with Barker brought the most iconic gameshow host with some of the most iconic wrestlers of the WWE. Together, they played off each other brilliantly. Compared to previous hosts like Al Sharpton, Dennis Miller, or Jeremy Piven, Barker was the most natural and funny. It is a tragic loss that the WWE universe had to endure in an already emotional week.
