Over the course of time, fans have witnessed many eras in WWE spread across decades. From Hulk Hogan’s Golden Era to the rowdy Attitude Era led by Dwayne Johnson and Stone Cold Steve Austin, fans have their own favorite era. But it looks like the current era is definitely the favorite era of Cody Rhodes’ sister, Teil Rhodes. And why wouldn’t it be? Her brother is one of the top stars of the current era which is beginning to surpass the famed Attitude Era in terms of profits.

Therefore, when she got a chance to brag about the era that her brother is currently heading, she did it just with a simple photo.

Bleacher Report recently released an article on ‘4 Reasons Why WWE Is Hotter Than It Was During the Attitude Era’. The article covers four main points on how WWE is drawing more profits today than it did in the late 90s and early 2000s. This drives home the point that the company is enjoying a boom period in terms of both the money it is making and the popularity of its product. A key reason behind this has been identified rise of stars such as Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.

After a user on Twitter posted Bleacher Report’s article, Teil Rhodes shared a ‘Rest in Peace’ meme where she wrote Attitude era on the tombstone. With just a simple meme, she acknowledged the success of today’s WWE era and the fact it may have surpassed the Attitude Era, which is considered the most popular time period in WWE.

Another reason why Teli may have shared this meme is that any wrestling era past or present is often compared to WWE’s adult-oriented Attitude Era, simply because of the popularity it ushered in and the stars it created that went down in the history of pro wrestling. The era is remembered fondly by wrestling fans and is the yardstick used to measure the success of any other WWE era or its stars.

The Attitude Era was famous for its violence, profanity, and adult-oriented, edgy content. It was the most beloved and successful era in WWE history that saw a meteoric rise in audience viewership and merchandise sales. And obviously, stars like Steve Austin, Dwayne Johnson, Mick Foley, The Undertaker, Triple H, and Kane had a gigantic role in increasing the popularity of the product during this time period which lasted from 1998-2001.

However, a recent report claims that the current era has even surpassed the Attitude Era in terms of profits and is on par with the popularity of the Attitude Era.

Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes credited for WWE’s unprecedented success.

On a recent observer of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed how The New Era has completely changed the game in the wrestling industry. Attendance has skyrocketed and so has the audience viewership. Meltzer even pointed out that wrestling hasn’t been this hot since 2001, which falls in the Attitude Era time period.

Also, WWE noticed an exponential rise in its merchandise sales. Meltzer gave Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes most of the credit for the profits and regarded them as the flag-bearers of the current era. Reigns heel turn and Tribal Chief gimmick have helped to captivate the audience on a gigantic scale.

Reigns’ impact on WWE cannot be denied, as the company has seen a significant increase in viewership, engagement, and financial success. The same goes for ‘The American Nightmare’. Rhodes’ return to WWE and the quest to fulfill his American Dream had also added a lot of strength to WWE storylines and piqued fan interest in the product.
