CM Punk return rumors had several WWE fans excited. A great majority of the promotion’s viewers have been expecting the wrestling star to return to WWE at Survivor Series. While Punk’s departure from AEW was one reason, another was the fact that this year’s Survivor Series is being held in Chicago. However, there appears to be an obstacle in the way.

WWE may not be on board with CM Punk

Despite the many rumors and hints that we received all this time, WWE still hadn’t made any official news about CM Punk’s return. Earlier reports confirmed that the two parties have had talks over a return but nothing has come off it yet, with WWE not entirely being on board. And now, new reports suggest that WWE might not even be considering this move at all.

New reports via Fightful Select suggest that WWE is still on the same page regarding the CM Punk situation as they were before. This means that we may not see the wrestler in the promotion anytime soon.

However, previously, there had been several signs hinting toward a possible return. So, as for now, Punk’s status remains a mystery. Depending on which reports you wish to believe, you can either be excited or upset over the current situation.

A former WWE employee recently spoke about these rumors. While giving his opinion on it, he made sure to ask his fans to keep low expectations as WWE might not have offered Punk a place on the roster at all.

Eric Bischoff has worked with WWE enough to know how the company’s policies are regarding situations like these. So, during his ’83 Weeks’ podcast, the former on-screen General Manager revealed that Punk’s return could very well be mere rumors.

The current wrestling fanbase is looking forward to seeing him return. This makes ‘The Best in the World’ a big asset for WWE currently. But whether or not he would be at the Chicago PLE, this year is yet to be seen.
