Last week, ‘The Champ‘ John Cena made his first WWE appearance since WrestleMania 36, revealing the host city and venue for WrestleMania 39 in 2023. Fans are speculating on a Royal Rumble return for Cena, but they must wait a little longer.
WrestleVotes recently reported that WWE has nearly locked John Cena and Goldberg for WrestleMania 37. This is because WrestleMania 37 will be a two night PPV and WWE wants big names on the card on both nights.
They also revealed that The Rock is unlikely to work Mania 37, while there is no update on The Undertaker’s status.
Once a decision was made to run the 2 night card for Mania, the creative team started working on “bigger” ideas. Thought is WWE now needs 4 MAJOR matches, 2 per show. That probably requires outside assistance from big names. Cena & Goldberg nearly locks. Rock unlikely. Taker TBD.

If John Cena is working WrestleMania 37, he will surely begin the program a month or two in advance. Whether he’ll return on Raw or SmackDown is still unsure; our guess would be Raw, considering how desperately the show needs good ratings. Cena’s star power will definitely bring more eyes to Raw right before WrestleMania.
Who will Cena face at WrestleMania?
Last year, Cena faced Bray Wyatt in a Firefly Funhouse Match. It was a really unique matchup despite all the limitations of the pandemic. But who will he face this year? Roman Reigns already has his hands full and will probably face Daniel Bryan, Shinsuke Nakamura, or Goldberg at Mania 37.

The WWE Championship picture is open, and the sudden challenge from Goldberg only shows that WWE is ready to do anything to get a quick pop in the ratings. Honestly, a Cena vs McIntyre feud is a thousand times better and a bigger draw than Goldberg vs McIntyre.
In fact, it’ll be a much better wrestling match and can be a passing of the torch moment when McIntyre beats Cena. What do you think? Should John Cena chase his 17th World Title at WrestleMania 37? Let us know in the comments below!
