Released WWE Superstars Make Shocking Debuts at IMPACT Slammiversary

Slammiversary is finally in the books and Impact Wrestling delivered in the best way possible. The entire event was top-notch from start to finish, only if you ignore the production glitches that the show suffered from.

Keeping that aside, Scott D’Amore and his team poured their heart and soul into this pay-per view. However, despite all the brilliant wrestling in the ring, the show wouldn’t have been a success without the big surprises.

While there were murmurings about the recently released WWE Superstars joining Impact, this event brought most of those rumors to fruition.

The best thing was that these returns weren’t just thrown around for fun. All of them were tied in with a mouth-warering story that will force us to tune in on Tuesday Nights.

Big names arrive at Slammiversary

The surprises started from the very first match itself. As The Rascals laid down an open challenge, everyone expected The Good Brothers to make their debut.

However, we were shocked out of our wits to see legendary tag team Motor City Machine Guns make their return. Chris Sabin is still an active wrestler but Alex Shelley had retired.

The team proved that they hadn’t lost a step as they completely decimated The Rascals. They will now challenge The North for the tag team titles on Tuesday.

A former WWE star made his Impact Wrestling debut next, or did he? Heath Slater arrived in Impact and looked to deliver a promo. However, he was stopped by Rohit Raju who berated him.

He even mentioned his match with Drew McIntyre saying that Slater’s last world Championship match didn’t last very long. An irate Slater beat the hell out of Raju, announcing his arrival.

However, Slater revealed his “free agent” T-shirt to end the segment, raising doubts whether he had actually signed with Impact. Later backstage, as Heath Slater celebrated with Rhyno, Scott D’Amore asked him to leave saying that he wasn’t a part of the promotion.

That has certainly left us intrigued about the status of the former 3MB member.

The surprises weren’t over yet as we still awaited the mystery man in the fatal four way main event for the Impact World Championship. Out of the list of names that were being tossed around, Rich Swann turned out to be the one who made his debut.

However, that was just a false alarm. Eric Young made his big return and announced that the match was now a fatal-five way.

The world class maniac lived up to his name in this five-star contest. After eliminating Trey Miguel with a brutal pile driver, he completely destroyed the surgically repaired knee of Rich Swann.

This has nicely set the two up for an intense rivalry down the line.

After Eddie Edwards captured the world title in the fatal-five way match, he was attacked by Madman Fulton along with Ace Austin. Finally, The Good Brothers arrived to make the save.

After fending off the bad guys, The Good Brothers stood tall with Eddie Edwards and some champagne to cap off the night.

However, that wasn’t it on this night full of surprises. EC3 made his much awaited return as the show rolled to credits with a cryptic vignette. He didn’t utter a word but has us hooked to hear more from him.

All in all, this was as good as it gets. Impact delivered and then some. Extreme Rules will certainly have a hard time catching up.
