Former WWE Superstar Tony Nese finally opened up about his WWE career post his sudden release from the company. After five years in the company, WWE recently released Nese alongside some other 205live superstars.

In a recent tweet, Nese looked back at arguably the most significant win of his career. During the pre-show of WrestleMania 35, Nese defeated former tag partner Buddy Murphy to win the Cruiserweight Championship, the only title in his WWE career.

He revealed that he and Murphy wanted to do a more physically demanding match, keeping in touch with the wrestling style of 205live. But it would have been too much for the PG audience and WWE did not let them.

But they got their match at 205live anyway. He also joked that “no one in-house” watched 205 live, and it helped them get their desired match.

He wrote, I love that my Mania moment left an impression on some of you. I suggest watching the rematch vs @WWE_Murphy from the 205live after. That was the match we really wanted to give you but weren’t allowed. Good thing is, no one in-house even watches 205, so we just did it then.”

Following is the tweet from Nese and a small clip from a fan –

Notably, Murphy was also released from his WWE contract in June due to budget cuts. He transitioned into the main roster before getting fired.

Tony Nese was amidst the 14 WWE Superstars to be released on June 25th, 2021. According to reports, the releases were a result of another budget cut.

Apart from Nese, WWE released Ariya Daivari, The Bollywood Boyz, Curt Stallion, and August Grey from 205live. NXT superstars like Fandango, Tyler Breeze, Ever Rise, Arturo Ruas and Marina Shafir also got the boot along with writer Kenice Mobley.

Following his release, Nese posted a long message about 205live. He said he worked hard whenever he stepped in the ring, no matter how underappreciated the division became. He also added that he would love to do it for another company again.
