

Charlotte Flair went through the worst phase of her life when her brother, Reid Flair, passed away. Both of them had shared a special bond since childhood. They were like two peas in a pod. “The Nature Boy” explained how they were competitive, from a young age. However, it all changed when they grew up and chose separate paths. After the tragedy, ‘The Queen’ blamed herself for not being there for her brother during the darkest phase of his life. But, over the years, Flair understood that she can’t hold herself responsible for her brother’s life decisions.
Charlotte Flair blamed herself for not being there for Reid Flair
In a recent episode of A&E’s Biography: WWE Legends, Charlotte Flair described the tragic burden of carrying the guilt of her brother’s death. She felt guilty for not keeping in touch during the latter phase of their lives.

Flair questioned, “Did I cause my brother to OD (overdose)? Like, was the pressure too much on him? Was I not there for him?”
And added, “You can’t blame yourself, like yes. I’ve taken many years to know that. But it’s very hard not to think about those things… at that time”

Reid Flair suffered from a heart attack, and met his demise on March 23, 2013, which was a result of a drug overdose. The young fighter came to the U.S.A after a brief stint with the All Japan Professional Wrestling that year. But, this incident made Charlotte Flair regret not visiting her brother more often.
The Queen felt guilty for living her brother’s dream
During the same interview, The Queen opened up about how she couldn’t make enough time for her family. Charlotte Flair’s commitments to WWE meant that she couldn’t pay visits to her brother as often. Reid Flair always dreamed of moving into WWE and becoming a star, like his father. However, Charlotte Flair got that opportunity instead and became a tremendous success in WWE.

Flair said about her wrestling career, “oh I really like this, I fit in. This is really cool. But, at the same time, this is everything that he (Reid Flair) wanted to be doing. Like how selfish and unfair that I’m living his dream and he never got to be there.”

Therefore, The Queen felt guilty and blamed herself for losing her sibling, at a young age.
