Before appearing in Red One later this year, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was in another movie that had red in the title. Red Notice, starring The Rock, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds, was released in 2021. The movie hit Netflix and in just 28 days of release, it was the most-watched movie. However, a bit of tension sparked between The Rock and Ryan Reynolds.

Despite being announced in 2022, the work on a sequel hasn’t started yet. Two sequels are required to be shot back to back.

The recent reports of ‘The Final Boss’ appearing late on the sets of Red One paint a grim picture. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first time. Reports indicate he did the same while filming Red Notice. This unprofessional behavior has already cost Red One a massive loss of $50 million. However, when he did the same on Red Notice, it rubbed Reynolds the wrong way. One time, when the former WWE Champ arrived five hours late, the Deadpool star had enough.

Sources told TMZ that Reynolds lashed out at Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson for wasting everyone’s time. While how this was resolved on the sets is not mentioned, the two did not speak for years. This is the reason why the 2021 movie still hasn’t had a sequel in three years. Despite the massive success upon release, since the two main actors were unwilling to communicate, the sequels were stalled.

While reports claim the two have reconciled to a point they can work together, there is no substantial evidence to prove it. The two also took jabs at each other’s alcohol ventures on social media. Only time will tell if the two start with the filming process of the already-delayed sequels. While the production company wanted to capitalize on the first movie’s success, this feud did halt progress.

Johnson has multiple projects ahead in 2024

While ‘The Final Boss’ is currently training for The Smashing Machine, he is also involved in other projects this year. Not only will he voice Maui once more in Moana 2, but he will also reprise the role in the live-action version.

Along with his Hollywood projects, Johnson will return to the WWE to continue his feud with Cody Rhodes. While it was speculated that this will be around SummerSlam, there is no confirmation.
