In a shocking turn of events, WWE released Zelina Vega from her contract.
The company made this news public with a brief message: “WWE has come to terms on the release of Zelina Vega. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
While there has been no announcement about the precise reason for this dismissal, various news outlets have speculated on the possible causes.

The ex-Superstar Tweeted “I love unionization”. This may not have sit well with Vince McMahon and WWE.
I support unionization.

However, this does not seem like the real reason as the tweet was posted just 10 minutes prior to WWE terminating her contract. As per reports, WWE informed Vega of the release in the afternoon. This was much before she sent out the tweet.
Her tweet could be a probable response to the untimely release.
WWE may have released Zelina Vega because of Twitch
Another possible reason for this is her Twitch Account.
WWE clarified that it does not want the Superstars running their own Twitch accounts. The company received significant backlash for the same but did not alter the decision. Vega was one such Superstar who was adamant about running her Twitch Account.
She was vocal about this issue and did not agree with the terms and conditions the company was putting in front of the Superstars. She continued to run the accounts until 10/30.
This was after Superstars such as AJ Styles and Xavier Woods travelled to meet Vince McMahon to change his mind. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful.
Is WWE sending a message to the Superstars?
Some are of the opinion that WWE released Zelina Vega to send a message to the other Superstars. Anybody who defies a direct policy change will be subject to termination.
If there is no other reason for her release apart from her stubbornness to run the Twitch account, then the company is in for severe criticism from the fans and other Superstars.
The Twitch account is another income stream for the Superstars and some of them really need this external source of income.
WWE wants to put a cap on this as the company believes this affects them negatively. The company wants to have complete control over how the Superstars use their ring-name.
Regardless, Zelina Vega is now free to use her Twitch Account using her proper name – Thea Trinidad. However, she does have to follow the traditional 90-day non-compete clause in her contract.
