In September, Matt Riddle officially parted ways with WWE, sparking interest from various wrestling promotions. Since his release, he embraced new ventures, including acquiring a new car and exploring opportunities in entrepreneurship. Providing a candid life update on Instagram, “The Original Bro” shared details with his eager fans. Unfortunately, Riddle disclosed recent health challenges affecting both him and his family. 

He said, “What’s up everyone? just a little life update. Uh if you haven’t heard from me, uh, I was pretty sick. My girl is pretty sick. Uh, my one child had an appendix issue. She had to get emergency surgery. And, then, my girlfriend had an issue and needed to get an emergency surgery as well.” His child underwent emergency surgery for an appendix issue, and even his girlfriend required urgent medical attention. 

He also added, “Plus, I have a baby so I have been a little busy. So if I haven’t returned a phone call or a message in the last week or so, I still like, yeah, just been really busy lately. All right just want to share that with everyone and hit me up if you really need something. All right thank you. Love everyone. Happy holidays.” Recently, he and his girlfriend Misha Montana joyfully welcomed their first child together, named Matthew.

Despite these personal hurdles, Riddle is gearing up for a fresh chapter with Major League Wrestling after his notable WWE career. As he prepares for his first non-WWE match against Jacob Fatu, fans anticipate a new era for The Original Bro outside the familiar WWE ring.

Recently becoming a free agent, former WWE star Matt Riddle is set to make his debut in Major League Wrestling (MLW) on January 6, 2024, facing Jacob Fatu at the Kings of Colosseum. MLW officially announced Riddle’s return through a press release, highlighting his past achievements and his goal to claim the MLW World Heavyweight Championship.

The press release states, “Matt Riddle, the chill grappler known for fighting barefoot and winning big has returned to Major League Wrestling… and he has set his sights on “the most dangerous man on planet earth”: Jacob Fatu.” Recalling Riddle’s 2018 domination in the MLW World Heavyweight Title tournament, the release underscores his achievement.
