Roman Reigns and Goldberg will clash at WWE Elimination Chamber with the Universal Championship on the line. The question remains – will this be the end of The Tribal Chief’s reign? Maybe not.
Roman Reigns has been the longest reigning champion. He’s held the Universal Championship since Payback 2020. He’s at the top of the roster and megastars such as Brock Lesnar and John Cena haven’t been able to dethrone him.

WWE wants Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38
Following Elimination Chamber, there’s WrestleMania 38. WWE is planning a huge Champion vs Champion match between Reigns and Brock Lesnar.
For this, Lesnar needs to win at the elimination chamber men’s match and become the new WWE Champion. On the other hand, Roman Reigns needs to retain the Universal Championship against Goldberg.
Considering this is the supposed plan, it is essential Roman Reigns defeats The Icon at Elimination Chamber 2022.
This could be Goldberg’s final WWE match
Even though there hasn’t been any official announcement, The Icon took to social media after landing in Saudi Arabia to reveal this could be his last mission in WWE.
It was reported that Goldberg has only one match left in his contract after his match against Bobby Lashley at Crown Jewel 2021. If he hasn’t renegotiated a new contract with WWE, this could be his retirement match.
That being said, WWE will not put him in a match where he will emerge victorious and then vacate the position. If that happens, Reigns will need to again battle against other superstars to become the Universal Champion.
While these are two reasons why Roman Reigns will defeat Goldberg, there could be a scenario where Goldberg actually defeats The Tribal Chief.
