Did WWE just find their next big star in Oba Femi, or is it too soon to tell?

Monday Night Raw 05/12 witnessed quite a few surprises and Oba Femi‘s appearance was one of them. The NXT North American champion was standing ringside when Alpha Academy arrived in the arena for a match against the new stable, ‘American Made’. The commentators expressed their confusion upon seeing the superstar from the developmental brand on Raw.

Oba Femi is carrying the title for 214 days and counting. His journey began on the 9th of January this year and it seems like it will go on for longer than we expect. Seeing Femi on Raw could also have been a hint that he may be joining the main roster soon. But what was the real reason that we saw him tonight?

WWE hosts its Speed matches and Main Event matches for Peacock usually after its weekly shows to keep the fans entertained for longer. However, it was a bit different on 08/12. WWE surprised the fans with early Main Event and Speed matches for some reason. Oba Femi was part of the first Main Event. The intimidating champion was up against Dante Chen. He ended up owning the latter in the squared circle and fans seemed to enjoy the match. Following his match, Femi decided to stick around, resulting in an exchange between him and Otis later in the night. Femi was able to successfully defend his title against Chen. But since he has also accepted the ‘open challenge’, his fortunes could also turn around on the black and yellow brand of WWE soon.

Although Femi didn’t have an elaborate feud with Otis before the latter’s match, the Alpha Academy star still lost. The NXT star accidentally brought bad luck to the babyface stable while he carried a fantastic aura before the show began. One of the big factors that influenced their defeat was the distraction that Ivy Nile caused later that night and it had its repercussions.

Before the match even began, Ivy Nile arrived backstage to have a conversation with Maxxine Dupri. She suggested that she stay out of the feud and leave the Creed Brothers alone. Not only that, but she also suggested that they all join the ‘American Made’ faction because Chad Gable wishes so. Dupri, thinking that Nile would understand, politely declined the invite. Instead, she supported her ‘family’ to go and face the goons that have been troubling them on the main roster for a long time now. Towards the end of the match, Nile attacked Dupri, who was standing near the apron, and went on to slam her on the announce table.

Distracted by this, Otis and his partner tried to check up on their teammate but were laid down by the Creed Brothers. Unfortunately, this ended the match but not without consequences. However, one of the Wyatt Sicks’ members took to X and uploaded a cryptic message for the fans to decipher. In typical Wyatt Sicks faction, the message doesn’t directly tell us anything but chances are, Ivy Nile may have to watch her back.

All of this went down right after Oba Femi came to see Monday Night Raw. Is there something that the NXT North American Champion not telling us?
