Vince McMahon changed the WWE Raw: September 20th, 2021 last minute to include the triple threat match between Roman Reigns, Bobby Lashley, and Big E. Initially, the triple threat match wasn’t a part of the card.

Prior to WWE Raw, the company had done the triple threat match between Reigns, E, and Lashley in house shows. McMahon heard about how well the match was doing in house shows. And, he wanted to move it up to WWE Raw main event.

The idea was that the six-man tag team match would be the pathway to the triple threat match. However, it was decided later, and therefore, the match wasn’t advertised prior to the show.

Dave Meltzer said, “Vince got the word that the matches were very good. So, at noon the day of the show on Monday, Vince did an about face and moved the six man tag to basically set up this match as the main event. Figuring this would be the strongest ratings possible. That’s why it wasn’t advertised. And, that’s why it was a last minute thing.” H/t RingSide News

It’s unclear if McMahon’s only reason was to put the triple threat match on Raw because it was doing well on house shows.

According to other reports, Dynamite was surpassing Raw in terms of ratings. Hence, The Big Man made immediate changes to the Raw plans.
