Hulk Hogan rose to superstardom and became a fan favorite in WWE. This lead to Hogan getting challenged by several WWE superstars during his prime.

Sika Anoa’i, the father of Roman Reigns, is one such former WWE superstar who challenged Hogan inside the squared circle.

During a recent episode of Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard podcast, Prichard talked about the reason behind Sika challenging Hogan on Saturday Night’s Main Event.

He revealed the idea behind Saturday Night’s Main Event was to make Hogan battle against somebody that people could identify as a heel.

Bruce said, “The idea behind Saturday Night’s Main Event was to put Hogan in the ring against somebody that people could identify with as a heel because you were appealing to an audience that may not and probably was not your fan.

Further, the Senior Vice President of WWE added Sika looked like a heel, and the Hulkster and Sika were long-time friends.

Prichard added, “So, Sika looked like a heel. Hulk and Sika, long-time friends, and Sika was a great worker, seeking off of both. But it was somebody that looked like a heel and that was kind of the way that they would program those Saturday Night Main Event.”
