Real Reason Dwayne Johnson Declined Potential Million Dollar Hosting Deal

Dwayne Johnson is one of the most lovable actors in the world right now. With so many blockbusters on his resume, there’s no surprise every production house in Hollywood scouts ‘The Rock’ out, trying to make money. But when it comes to award shows, that is another story. While there haven’t been many awards shows that The Rock has hosted, the opportunity to host a big one came his way.

After his great hosting job at the 2009’s Kid Choice Awards and his hilarious co-hosting stint with Kevin Hart at MTV Movies & Tv Awards 2016, there’s no doubt the Emmy Awards contacted the ‘Jungle Cruise’ actor for one more.

And considering that it is one of the most paid jobs in the hosting business, nobody could reject it. According to CheatSheet, hosts get around $15,000 to $100,000, keeping in mind the hosts’ popularity. And with The Rock being The Rock, he could easily bag a million from this job. But unfortunately, The Rock declined to attend the show earlier this year.

Dwayne Johnson reveals the real reason for denying Emmy Awards host

After the news about the decline was revealed, ET sat down with Dwayne Johnson for an interview. In the interview, they asked The Rock about declining the Emmys, to which he replied, “It was just schedule, I was really, truly honored when they came to me and asked, but it was just a scheduling thing. That’s all. That’s really what it comes down to.”

The Emmy Awards have yet to reveal a replacement for the 2022 ceremony, but as the ceremony nears its 12th September date, people speculate that the ceremony could be host-less. With Succession and Euphoria in the nominations race, audiences will surely tune in.

While The Rock gave the reason that he is not available for this year’s Emmy because of shooting dates. But you might wonder what these may be. Well, we know the DC League of Super-Pets and Black Adam have wrapped up and are ready to be released this year, but what about the others?

According to IMDB, there are 5 movies with Dwayne Johnson as the lead actor revealed. One of these movies, Red One, features Captain America himself. It’ll be the first time we see Chris Evans and Dwayne Johnson. It is scheduled to be released next year.
