Is Tonga Loa's move a sign of disrespect to Jacob Fatu, or a strategic play for dominance?

Jacob Fatu debuted in WWE and wasted no time in becoming one of the most-feared men on the roster. He even beat down DIY soon after they became WWE Tag Team Champions. Soon after, Fatu defeated them alongside Tama Tonga and the two thus became the Tag Team champions themselves. However, last week, Jacob Fatu and Tonga showed up with another partner.

On SmackDown, The Bloodline made a statement alongside Tama Tonga, who is one-half of the Tag Team champions. Since Fatu wasn’t there, WWE instead allowed Tonga Loa to carry his belt to the ring. If you were also confused, there may be an explanation behind it.

Jacob Fatu may not be the only champion

Dave Meltzer had a chance to talk about the moment after the promo on SmackDown. Jacob Fatu is out of the game because of a likely kayfabe injury. In his absence, Loa picked up and flaunted the tag team championship alongside his sibling. To clear out the confusion, Meltzer had an idea. On Wrestling Observer Radio, the reporter claimed, “The (Tag Team) champions are whoever two men Solo (Sikoa) pick, so Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa can defend them. Jacob Fatu when he comes back, can defend them.

As the overseer of The Bloodline, Solo Sikoa will get to pick who will defend the title when needed. So far, the tag titles have needed no defense from the notorious faction. If they do, fans may not want to see it because of the botches that Tonga Loa brings to the table. Even during the segment on SmackDown when he had to carry the belt, he committed an embarrassing botch.

The Bloodline will most likely wait till Jacob Fatu is back in the promotion

Dave Meltzer added to his claim that this wasn’t explained on TV that Tonga Loa would be defending the championship in Jacob Fatu’s defense. So, the possibility is that he will just carry it around whenever one of the champions is on a hiatus. When the Samoan Werewolf was absent from the 08/09 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Tonga Loa arrived in the ring alongside Tama Tonga. The two then raised the Tag Team Championships in the air to show it off. Unexpectedly, King Haku’s son botched that moment too.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Tonga Loa's move a sign of disrespect to Jacob Fatu, or a strategic play for dominance?

Have an interesting take?

One fan spotted that when he raised the belt, Loa couldn’t hold the championship open to flex it. Instead, it was only half open while the other half was folded. Some fans may have missed it but the error was amplified for everyone to see when the segment was posted on social media. The Tongan star isn’t new to botching spots. This is probably why WWE might hold him back from defending the title alongside his brother. So, until Jacob Fatu is back, Loa’s only job would be to hold the belt for him and let The Bloodline 2.0 make a powerful statement.

Do you think WWE should make somebody else the tag team partner of Tama Tonga while Jacob Fatu is on a hiatus?
