It was a big night for Dominik Mysterio. Not only did the Mysterio scion make his SummerSlam match with Seth Rollins official, he officially became a part of the WWE roster. Unfortunately, his first night as a WWE Superstar was anything but memorable.

To begin Monday Night Raw tonight, Samoa Joe was in the ring with Dominik and Seth Rollins. His job was to mediate in the contract signing between the two Superstars for their match at SummerSlam. In addition, he was also tasked with overlooking the official contract signing of Dominik, making him a part of the Raw roster.

However, unlike last week, Joe was barred from engaging in any physical confrontation. That was because he’s still not medically cleared to compete. If he defied this order, he would lose his job.

Hence, Joe was effectively ruled out of the equation. It was as if Rollins had planned the entire segment like a game of chess. He knew how each step would play out.

Firstly, he convinced Dominik to accept a brutal equation for their match at SummerSlam. Dominik will be allowed to use his trademark kendostick as the match will be a No holds barred contest!

Obviously, this gives Rollins the edge who has mastered the numbers game in the past few weeks. In addition, he can use every dirty trick in the book.

Next up was a match between Rollins and Humberto Carillo. The Monday Night Messiah made short work of the youngster.

After the match, one of the most brutal segments of the year commenced.

Dominik Mysterio destroyed by Seth Rollins and Murphy on WWE Raw

Murphy ambushed Dominik and tossed him to the ring. After that, the Messiah and thr disciple tied the young Superstar to the ropes.

With kendo sticks in hand, they unleashed terror upon Rey Mysterio’s son. While Rollins whipped his chest, Murphy dismembered his back.

They kept hitting him for a good one minute before he completely passed out. Once they were done, Dominik was left with gushing wounds on his chest as well as his back.

Rollins recently claimed that this storyline is an example of slow burn storytelling. As long as WWE delivers segments like these with masterful selling from Dominik, there’s no reason not to believe him.

The imminent return of Rey Mysterio is also a huge factor that plays into this feud. WWE must keep inventing new layers to not run the risk of repetitiveness.

This rivalry has been going on for a long time now. Even slow burn stories need to ensure that they keep offering something new to the viewers.
