CM Punk stormed through the WWE Universe during his reigns as WWE Champion. As the face of the company, he was a fan favorite and was arguably the biggest one-man show since “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
Everyone knows about the glorious WWE Championship and World Heavyweight Championship reigns of Punk, but many discount his short contribution to the WWE Tag Team Division.
Yes, that’s right, CM Punk did have a reign as WWE Tag Team Champion, when he paired up with…Kofi Kingston! In one of WWE’s most unlikely combinations in retrospect, Punk did the unthinkable and won the Championship with Kofi who was just settling in WWE at the time.

CM Punk and Kofi Kingston reigned for 47 days!
On the October 27, 2008 episode of Raw, ‘The Best in the World’ and Kofi won the Championship from Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, starting their reign.
The two did not have as much of a memorable run as fans would expect. CM Punk and Kofi took part in Survivor Series the next month as part of Team Batista but lost after a hard-fought contest.
Their reign as Tag Team Champions also ended at 47 days, when they dropped the gold to The Miz and John Morrison.
Kofi Kingston and CM Punk actually brought a lot to the table. They made a lethal combination of flexibility and high-flying brutality to which many other teams could not find an answer.

Kofi Kingston wrestles in the WWE Tag Team division till today
While CM Punk spent the future building up to have successful runs as the main champion of WWE, Kofi found his place in the tag team division. In fact, his team, New Day, continues to wrestle in the tag team division of WWE.
He holds the record with New Day for the longest Tag Team Championship reign in WWE history at 483 days. They are also the only team to hold the fleeting Championship for over a year.
Although Big E has split from the team due to the draft, Kofi and Xavier Woods continue flying the banner high.
