The Shield was one of the most notorious teams years ago. Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose took the WWE Universe by storm. They made it a trademark by attacking Superstars during or after matches.
Even though The Shield is a finished gimmick due to the departure of Ambrose from the company, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins maintain their comradeship till today.

The Shield initially debuted in 2012, where they worked their way up the charts through crooked means. The team had the wolf-pack strategy where they picked on worn out and singular targets.
The gimmick ended in 2014, but there were several reunions after in 2017, 2018, and 2019. These group splits haven’t affected the relationship between Rollins and Reigns.
Although the two seldom meet in the ring due to being on different brands, they keep in touch with each other. Rollins has admitted to frequently phone-calling Reigns during his recovery from Leukemia.
Seth Rollins frequently called Roman Reigns during his Cancer recovery
In 2018, “The Big Dog” announced that his cancer had returned, forcing him to take a break from WWE right when he was at his peak. Roman Reigns was definitely not alone in his battle.
Seth Rollins regularly called him up, asking for updates, and keeping him company. In an interview with Iridian Fierro of La Ley 107.9, Rollins described his frequent conversation with Roman.
“I stay in touch with Roman. I talk to him once a week just to see how he’s doing. Mostly it’s about that,” revealed Rollins. “At the end of the day he doesn’t want to worry about work, he doesn’t want to deal with that headache right now, so it’s about seeing how he’s doing and his recovery right now.”
“It’s nice to hear from him, and once in a while he’ll have a question about how things are going [with RAW], but it’s mostly just two friends catching up together.”
Reigns recovered from his cancer and made an emphatic return to the ring. He definitely linked up with his old friend on Raw as well.
Apart from all this, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns have been seen sharing light-hearted moments backstage on more than one occasion. It is clear that the two are close friends.
Jon Moxley is not as close with Reigns and Rollins
Unfortunately, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins both do not have the same rapport with Dean Ambrose. Although Reigns has not publicly stated anything, Rollins has bashed his former team-mate for not being able to handle “the rigors of WWE.”
However, he has mentioned that they are on talking terms and that he still likes to know what’s going on in Ambrose’s life.
Ambrose is now wrestling in WWE’s rival promotion AEW, where he is one of the top talents. His departure meant that The Shield was done once and for all.
With that, the prospect of seeing a Reigns-Rollins Tag Team was also destroyed. Their collaboration outside of Shield is yet to be seen. Although, as part of the team, they did win the WWE Tag Team Championship once, which surely brought them closer as friends.
Reigns has fought Rollins on multiple occasions in 2017, 2018, and 2019. All the fights have been decisive, which further proves just how good the pair work together.

Best friends work best together, so we may see a DX like co-operation between the two sometime in the future. Even if they do, it will surely be sold to perfection.
