SmackDown’s Elimination Chamber match was a brilliant way to kick off the event, as 6 Superstars fought for the #1 contender spot for the WWE Universal Championship. One of the biggest players coming into the fight was Kevin Owens.

Feuding with Roman Reigns for months, fans expected Owens to pull off the heroic win which would set him up for yet another match with Reigns. Unfortunately, things did not go his way at all.

Owens got eliminated early in the match and lasted for a much shorter time than anticipated. In fact, he was only the third Superstar to be eliminated, losing out to Jey Uso.

However, during the fight, Jey Uso played extremely smart by using the Chamber to his advantage. As Sami Zayn exited the structure after being eliminated, the door was opened.

Owens was slugging it out with Corbin without looking behind himself. Seeing the opportunity, Uso kicked the door shut on Owens’ hand, which got trapped.

Unable to defend himself adequately, Kevin Owens suffered a series of superkicks from Jey Uso.

Soon after, he eliminated Owens, who failed to secure another title match against Roman Reigns. However, this was probably for the best.

Daniel Bryan won the match by pinning Jey Uso in the end. However, instead of facing off with ‘The Tribal Chief’ at the end of the night as previously scheduled, Bryan was made to fight Reigns directly after the Chamber match.

Edge may finish off what Kevin Owens never could

Unsurprisingly, Reigns made short work of a decapitated Bryan and retained his title. Thankfully, we got a much bigger ending than we initially thought. Much like he blindsided “The Fiend” during his return last year, he was ambushed by Edge.

‘The Rated-R Superstar’ Speared Reigns in a shocking turn of events and pointed to the WrestleMania sign suspended above the stands. Needless to say, this confirmed that Edge had made his choice for WrestleMania. He is set to face Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship.

As for Kevin Owens, it looks as if his feud with Roman Reigns has reached its anti-climactic end, and he will have to step down for Edge, who will most likely finish what Owens started.
