WWE fans were shocked following the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown. After interference from Roman Reigns, Adam Pearce won the Gauntlet Match, which made him the challenger to Reigns’ Universal Championship at Royal Rumble 2021.
The WWE Universe could not get around the fact that Reigns was going to be facing Pearce at a high-profile event like Royal Rumble. There isn’t a lot of popularity with the feud, and WWE will have to think twice.

According to recent reports, the company is considering changing the opponent for Reigns at Royal Rumble. On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted the same.
Meltzer discussed the possibility that WWE may decide to ultimately go for Kevin Owens, considering the strange nature of the match.
“It’s possible that they’ll change it back to Kevin Owens because it seems like a strange match to make; because if they do that it pretty much tells you that they literally have no ideas at all,” said Meltzer. “I’m not ruling out that they’ll go back to Kevin Owens.”
Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns would make sense to WWE fans
Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns would be the most logical fight because the two are currently in a huge feud, and everyone enjoyed the two at TLC. Owens will deliver to the fans’ expectations and people can get behind it.
However, until further notice, Adam Pearce is preparing to take down Roman Reigns. The former wrestler does have a neat NWA and ROH record under his belt and may surprise fans.

Fans widely criticized this decision by the WWE Creative team and are not hyped up at all for Royal Rumble. Not taking anything away from Adam Pearce, but Roman Reigns vs Kevin Owens does seem like the safer bet for WWE.
