WWE has shocked fans all around the world with two major surprise bookings for its top Superstars. Following the Drew McIntyre vs Goldberg announcement, Adam Pearce has also been booked to fight Roman Reigns at Royal Rumble 2021.

This booking seems extremely odd and a lot of fans cannot wrap their minds around why WWE would do this to a heel Roman Reigns. However, there may be a deeper storyline involved in this.

Adam Pearce may be a manager in WWE, but he was a wrestler years ago. In fact, he even defeated a young Adam Cole during his days in ROH.

WWE may have something in store for Pearce but it is highly unlikely that we see him wrestle again. Perhaps, Pearce is just the shield for the bigger picture.

Roman Reigns has been unchallenged in WWE so far. Since his return, no one has been able to stop him on his warpath to dominance. Something big is needed to stop ‘The Tribal Chief’ and Adam Pearce is hardly conception for Reigns.

Adam Pearce may surprise Roman Reigns by picking a new challenger

There were reports that NXT Superstar Damian Priest is set to make a debut on WWE SmackDown last week but it all fell through at the last minute. Maybe Pearce will introduce him as Reigns’ opponent and rule himself out.

If Pearce does wrestle, his defeat would be a building block for Roman’s already huge character. Obliterating his opponent, Reigns could prove an already proven point.

However, WWE is considering changing the WWE Universal Champion’s opponent following the negative response from fans. Now, Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns may also be a huge possibility.

Owens has a good feud going with Reigns and can give it a last try before the next man comes in the way. Royal Rumble would be the perfect time for this final showdown.

Unless Adam Pearce has something he isn’t telling us, we can safely assume that Reigns will wrestle someone bigger in the roster. Although, we can count on Pearce introducing this mystery character.
