Amongst the string of Superstars released this year was Samoa Joe, who found himself out of a company he had been with for years. Hailed at every point in his career as a future World Champion, fans were shocked to find out that he was let go by WWE.

Fans still question the decision and many believe he may head back to Impact Wrestling or AEW for that matter. However, a major return to WWE has also surfaced amongst the other possibilities.

The WWE Universe feels that Samoa Joe’s release was uncalled for, and the feeling is mutual with the NXT officials. Fightful Select reports that there have been talks to bring the former United States champion back to the company through NXT.

According to the report, NXT Wrestlers and staff mentioned that they heard NXT officials discussing a potential return for Samoa Joe. This could be a part of the backstage effort to bring back some of the released Superstars.

Aleister Black and Samoa Joe are being pulled for a WWE return

There were reports of the WWE backstage staff pushing for a return for Aleister Black, given that there was a lot planned out for him. His supportive comments towards the company may have also prompted the WWE Universe to give him a second chance.

Given the fact that there was obviously something big planned out for him, his release makes the least sense. Along with Aleister Black, the staff may also be pushing to get Samoa Joe back as these two releases don’t sit well with the fans either.

Samoa Joe spent a good deal of time as a commentator for Raw. By the time he was released, he had not competed in the ring for over a year due to injuries. He had suffered a concussion while shooting a commercial and that was in addition to a previous head injury he suffered in a house show for WWE.

The breach of the wellness policy did not sit well with the higher-ups and they probably ran out of patience with him on the roster. If he is cleared for an in-ring return, we may see him build his way back up through NXT.
