Cesaro was at one point one of the most popular men in WWE. Making his entire suit and tie gimmick iconic, everyone was mesmerized when ‘The Swiss Superman’ moved around the ring.

Many of you may not know it but this is Cesaro’s second stint in the company. He was initially hired by the company back in 2005 but never got to see the light of the ring.

In a recent interview on Lilian Garcia’s Chasing Glory, the former WWE United States Champion revealed how WWE hired him and then released him without having him compete on any of the shows.

“So, literally, I got signed. I finished all of my indie bookings. At that point, me and Chris Hero were the Kings of Wrestling. We had – which was unheard of at the time – we had three different championships from three different promotions,” explained Cesaro.

“So we finished our business there, and when that was done, I got a call that [WWE] couldn’t hire me. To which I responded, ‘But, like, I am hired. I’m already getting paid.’ I was told I was going to get my release papers within that next week,” revealed ‘The Swiss Superman’.

This was quite peculiar from WWE. Cesaro also claimed that he was never given a reason for his release but the entire thing was swift and few words were spoken.

Cesaro made a huge impact on re-joining WWE

The wrestler continued working on the independent scene after his release. He worked his way back into the spotlight of WWE and was re-hired by the company in 2011. Signing a contract, this time he was hired for real.

With his peculiar gimmick and in-ring madness, he quickly rose up the approval ratings. Fans loved seeing him perform and he soon got into a memorable feud with John Cena.

All things aside, we have to wonder just how WWE could have used Cesaro back in the days when men like Batista and a prime John Cena dominated the ring.
